Oakwood Soccer Club
Oakwood Argentina Trip 2015

From Feb 13-22, 2015, the Oakwood Soccer Club sent three boy's teams and 40 supporters to Argentina. The U14/15 (1999/2000), U13 (2001) and U12 (2002) teams each played four matches; two in Buenos Aires and two in Rosario (4 hours north of Buenos Aires). The matches were against Club Los Andes, Argentinos Juniors, Newell’s Old Boys (Messi’s first youth club), and Rosario Jockey Club
In addition, the Oakwood teams trained at Argentinos Juniors and viewed 2 Primera Division Professional matches (Argentinos Junios/Athletico Rafaella & Arsenal/Estudiantes).
The Oakwood group was based for 4 nights in Buenos Aires before heading to Rosario for three nights. In Rosario, the players were hosted by families of the Rosario Jockey Club. The Jockey Club and Oakwood have arranged reciprocal visits annually since 1997.

The group also toured the Boca Juniors, Newell’s Old Boys, and Rosario Central stadiums and museums. Oakwood Academy player, Dan Griffin (born 1998), also on the trip, had the opportunity to train with the Newell’s Old Boys Academy team.
The Oakwood touring members came from 32 Connecticut communities. The Oakwood Soccer Club is a member club of the US Soccer Development Academy.
