State Champions
The Oakwood boys completed their run of the state cup with a victory over West Hartford Premier. The game provded both teams with several scoring opportunities in the first half, with neither team converting a goal. Outstanding play by the Oakwood backline and solid goalkeeping by Carson D'Ambrosio kept the WHP offense at bay. The second half provided much more drama coming in the last fifteen minutes. Forward Andrew Geres was taken down in the box and a penalty kick was awarded. Luke Ngyuen converted the pk and the score was 1-0 with less than fifteen minutes remaining. Several minutes later, Ryan Joaquin scored the second goal coming from a diagonal ball by Nick Sailor. Minutes after the second Oakwood goal WHP responded with a goal of their own to close the gap. The equalizer almost came by WHP in the final minutes but an intial save by Nick Stewart in goal and then a goal line clearance by Kyle Robbins maintained Oakwood's lead. Nick Sailor closed the game with the third goal sealing the game and Oakwood's championship. All team members made contibutions to the victory.
