Oakwood Soccer Club, Inc.
The Oakwood Soccer Club, Inc. is a non-profit premier youth soccer
organization directed by Rick Derella and Dave Farrell. Oakwood
S.C. provides an advanced program of coaching and competition to
help student-athletes reach the highest level of soccer and academia.
Since 1989, Oakwood has won 4 National Championships, 21
Regional Medals, and 62 State Championships
In the process, Oakwood teams have defeated opponents from 35 states
and 13 countries. Oakwood has produced 25 All-Americans,
18 National Team Members, and 28 Professional Players.
Oakwood currently has 24 teams, which compete in the Region I Premier
League, and the Connecticut Premier League in the fall and spring.
In the winter, all teams train and compete in the Oakwood Indoor
Soccer Leagues. The club also hosts the Oakwood Premier Invitational
Outdoor Soccer Tournament in Greater Hartford, CT over Memorial
Day weekend. The event attracts 140 teams from as far as Minnesota.
In 2003 and 2004, Oakwood teams captured a total of 4 medals at
the Region I Championships in Rhode Island. In 2003, the U18 boy's
and U14 boy's teams captured Regional Silver, losing both championship
games on a Golden Goal. The 2003 U15 boy's won the Regional Bronze
Medal. In 2004, the U19 boy's team earned the Region I Bronze Medal.
The Oakwood representatives at the 2005 Region I Championships went
a combined 5 - 3 - 1, yet advanced out of their group. The U14 boy's
had 2 wins and 1loss (loss was to eventual champion), the U16 boy's
also had 2 wins and 1 loss, and the U19 boy's went 1 - 1 - 1.
